The ‘Z’ is seen in many other photos from the era. The rest of the graffiti either faded or was painted over quickly. The sign was almost certainly added in the time since the inn was rebuilt in 1938. It would be repainted at least once before being replaced during the late 1940s.

Condition, Aging & Authenticity: There is lots of fading of the handwritten date, and lots of wear around the edges. The front surface is still mostly free of scratching away from the edges.
