Cottonwood Pass Continental Divide sign slides from 1960

That is the US Forest Service logo in the upper-left and upper-right corners of the sign. This image was captured at a time when the Forest Service was replacing signs around the Continental Divide that had previously been added and maintained by the state’s highway department.

The sign shown here was located in roughly the same place as the current sign on Cottonwood Pass.

The road here was not paved until 1991 on the eastern side. Paving on the western side was not completed until 2019.

Condition, Aging & Authenticity: Mild scratching of the film upon arrival. No signs of aging in the mount.
