Comments & Discussion

The high peaks of the San Juan Mountains can be seen in the background, along with a small snowshed. These snowsheds were common at the top of Colorado’s highest mountain railroad passes during the 1900s, but this was a small example of these. Some snowsheds were complete with restaurants and accommodations.

This photo shows Locomotive 484, which still runs today.

Condition, Aging & Authenticity: The backside has the remnants of an album that it was likely mounted in at some point. The top edge has some warping. The front surface has very little/no scratching, and a matte surface with little/no reflective quality.
