Brief Description
This image comes from a 35mm slide that is held in the Coloradotopia Archives Collection. It shows the old crest house on top of Mount Blue Sky (formerly Mount Evans). This building was originally built in 1941, but it was largely destroyed by a fire in 1979. Some of the rock structure has now been rebuilt into an observation platform.

Image Dating Comments
This image is estimated to be from sometime just after the halfway point of the 1900s. A 1954 Chrysler Windsor can be seen here, so the image must post-date that year.
Front and Back
The reverse side has been rotated 180 degrees in order to make the slide mount’s label easier to read. These images were captured on a light table. They show the extent of the redness in the original slide image.

Comments & Discussion
The car on the right appears to be a 1954 Chrysler Windsor. The taillights for the 1953 and 1955 models were noticeably different. Second from the right, a 1953 Cadillac can be seen. The grill is an easy way to identify the model year of that car. The two cars on the left have not yet been identified.
This slide was developed by Joan Photo Service in Brandon, Wisconsin.
Condition, Aging & Authenticity: This slide’s image is severely tinted with a red shade. This this has been digitally corrected and the colors have been enhanced. There are 4 good corners and no browning or obvious aging upon entry into the archive.
