The ticket was most likely used during the 1950s. The chairlift was in operation between 1947–1986.
The ticket was purchased along with a series of photographs that were likely from the same trip. One of those shows a 1949 Mercury Eight. This model year is identifiable because the 1948 models had a much different hood and front end. The 1950 models used a large emblem at the front instead of lettering.
Comments & Discussion
Summer lift tickets for the Berthoud Pass double chairlift during this era cost $1 for adults and $.50 for children 10 & under.
This ticket was used by a foot passenger during the summer months. The winter lift tickets were different, and the hole on winter lift tickets would not have been located in a spot where it is punched through the text. This is a foot passenger lift ticket that was punched at the time it was used, so that it could not be reused.
Weldon, Wiliams & Lick manufactured many of the lift tickets for resorts in Colorado during this era, including tickets for Winter Park and Berthoud Pass.
Condition, Aging & Authenticity: There is lots of dirt, grime, and signs of aging, but there are no major creases or centerfolds visible from the front. The backside view does reveal the creasing and damage much better.
