Snowmass Transportation

Snowmass is an easily accessible ski resort. There are plenty of transportation options to get you into the Roaring Fork Valley, as well as many options to get around the local area once you are here. The Aspen/Snowmass area is well-known for having a great bus transportation system. 

Many skiers and riders will just take a private shuttle to get to this area from Denver or Grand Junction, and they are able to use the free transportation system once they are here in order to get around the valley without having a car.

Snowmass Transportation FAQ

The Aspen Pitkin County Airport is approximately 15 minutes away. Skiers and riders coming to Snowmass can fly into Aspen, the Eagle County Regional Airport, or Denver International Airport, among other options.

Prices for a private shuttle ride in a Chevy Suburban or similar vehicle will likely start at around $700.

The FREE RFTA bus is the easiest way to get to Snowmass from Aspen – This bus runs between all 4 ski resorts in the Roaring Fork Valley, and it is free year-round.

Local Bus Routes & Info

Directions from Denver to Snowmass

Get onto I-70 in Denver and head west into the Rocky Mountains. You’ll drive through the Eisenhower Tunnel, over Vail Pass and through Glenwood Canyon. Take Exit 116 to Glenwood Springs, and head south on Hwy 82. Take a right onto Brush Creek Road. This will take you into Snowmass Village at the bottom of the ski resort.

Free RFTA Bus

This bus stops at the bottom of each ski resort in the Aspen/Snowmass area, and there are several stops in between. The main routes between the ski resorts are all FREE. This bus is especially useful if you are staying in Snowmass and you want to ski at Aspen for a day. There is almost no skier parking in Aspen, so taking the bus is by far the easiest way to get there.

There are several local shuttle bus routes within Snowmass. The bus also runs as far as Glenwood Springs, although the Glenwood Springs route is not free.

Recommended Airports for Snowmass

The Aspen airport is the most convenient airport to fly into if you are skiing at Snowmass. Eagle is the next farthest airport on our list, and Denver is the farthest, with the drive from DIA to Aspen taking around 4 hours during the winter.
