Access via the Revelation Lift – The Gold Hill Express will get you up to this part of the mountain, but the Revelation Lift will be the final chairlift to get you up to the point where you can access most of the Gold Hill Chutes. Chute #1 can be accessed from the top of the Gold Hill Express via Andy’s Gold.

Gold Hill Chutes #1 & #2

These are the most easily accessible of the Gold Hill Chutes and you can access this terrain without hiking. Chutes #1 and #2 are no easier than the rest, and this terrain still represents some of the most difficult terrain in Colorado. These two chutes cover just under 2,000′ of vertical (1,900′ according to Telluride’s website).

There is a “no fall zone” in Chute #1 at the bottom where the chute ends in a giant cliff. You can see the goat path in the photos below that you will need to take in order to avoid the cliff. This is a high-consequence area, so even the best skiers should tone it down a bit here. Chute #2 has a similar path.

Chutes #3, #4, #5 - Permenantly Closed

These 3 chutes are permanently closed. The main reason is that this part of the mountain was difficult to manage. There were too many skiers needing help, and access to this terrain is not easy.
